Founded in 1992, Massaya specialises in teak furniture, characterised by excellent artisanal design and their use of high quality, recycled materials such as, reclaimed teak and boat wood.
Originally reserved exclusively for professionals, they opened up their sales to the retail market in 2004, opening a store near Angers, France. By 2007 their business had skyrocketed and their success led to the store being transferred to a much larger site in Vendée. In 2008 Massaya’s founder Gabriel Sourice permanently settled in Indonesia, where he could directly supervise the onsite manufacture and shipping of their collection.
The last major step in their expansion came in June 2010 with the creation of their ecommerce website.

Our expertise lie in distance sales and we wanted to have a site that highlighted our products as well as our eco-friendly and ethical outlook. We have worked hard to forge our place in the market and we are proud of our current turnover of 20,000€ a month in online sales, up 15% from last year.
To achieve these figures we’ve worked hard on our organic SEO strategy, to get to the top of search results on our fundamental keywords like, reclaimed teak. Our top rankings drive a significant amount of organic traffic to our site, representing about 40% of our visitors.
